Open a folder or start a new vault
Use a folder of notes you already have, or start fresh in a new folder.
Open a folder you already have#
- On the start page, choose Open a folder.
- Pick the folder in your browser’s folder picker.
- Your browser asks whether Papeliz may view and edit the files in that folder. Allow it, and the vault opens.
The folder opens as it is. Papeliz shows its folders and .md notes and leaves everything else alone. See Saving and hidden folders.
Start a new vault#
- On the start page, choose New vault.
- Pick or create an empty folder.
- Allow editing when the browser asks. Papeliz starts your first note, named and ready to write in.
If the folder you pick already has notes, Papeliz opens it as it is instead of starting over.
Come back with Recent vaults#
Folders you open appear under Recent vaults on the start page, so you can reopen one in a click. Type in the search box to find a vault in a long list.
When you reopen a vault, the browser may ask for permission again. See Troubleshooting.
Take a vault off the list#
Move to Trash takes a vault off Recent vaults and leaves its folder on your disk. The start page’s Trash keeps it, so you can restore it later.
Delete for good, from the start page’s Trash, erases the folder and every note in it from your disk. It doesn’t go to your computer’s Recycle Bin or Trash, and it can’t be undone. Papeliz asks you to type the vault’s name first.
Close a vault#
The Start page button in the top bar closes the vault and takes you back to the start page.
